Obituary for Mary Jane Walkup
Mary Jane Walkup, 65 of Lewisburg, WV passed away Friday afternoon September 4, 2020 at her beloved home of 47 years, with her husband by her side.
Born October 27, 1954 in Ronceverte, WV she was the daughter of the late Verner E. and Geraldine Christian McMillion.
Mary Jane was a graduate of Greenbrier East High School "Class of 1972". She grew up in the Baptist faith and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in White Sulphur Springs. She was a profound Christian. From an early age she was a talented pianist and taught piano lessons in her home for over 20 years. As her life moved on, she was the librarian at the White Sulphur Library for 7 years. During this time and later she worked for Shanklin Funeral Home and helped her husband until their retirement in 2016.
She loved to read, chat with friends on Facebook and walk the Rolling Hills neighborhood. Mary Jane cared about everyone she met which you knew by her smile.
Surviving is her husband of 47 years, Zivo Walkup and heir 3 cats: Happy, Joy and Teddy. Also two brother in laws; John and Terry Walkup and their companions of Renick and 4 aunts: Juanita Harvey of Elgood, WV Norma Loudermilk of Christiansburg, VA, Jean McMillion and Edna Christian of Renick and many cousins. Mary Jane lived a good life with many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 3pm, Wednesday September 9 at Morningside Cemetery in Renick with Rev. Robert Hefner and Rev. Lloyd Camp, presiding. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Greenbrier County Animal Shelter, 151 Holliday Lane, Lewisburg WV 24901.
