Obituary for Delcie B Lowe

Delcie Fraley Booth Lowe, 94 received her Heavenly reward on Thursday August 15, 2019 when God called her home to be with him and her loved ones who were waiting. She was living at Country View Assisted Living at Peterstown where she had resided for 5 years.
Delcie was born October 15, 1924 in Dunlow, WV to George Milton and Mary Elizabeth Fraley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Jasper O.(Buster) Booth, her second husband Russell Steele Lowe, brothers Virgil and Willis Fraley, sister Norma Stewart, daughter Cora Lee McCoy, her foster mother Sarah Elizabeth Miller and son-in-laws Harvey Moser, and Bruce Irwin and half sister Elsie Nelson. At age 4 she and her sister was taken to the Davis Stuart Home a Presbyterian run orphanage near Lewisburg. In 1937 at age 13, she went to live at Greenville with her foster mother Sarah E. Miller. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1944. Delcie joined the Greenville Methodist Church at an early age and later taught the Young Adult Sunday Class. She later joined Lindside United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was also the historian.
She worked at McLaughin Drug Store in Rich Creek, was Supervisor of Custodial Services at Virginia Tech for 15 years, then at Monroe Council of Aging as a cook and kitchen helper. She was also a past Noble Grand of The Rebecca Lodge of the I.O.O.F. at Lindside.
Delcie is survived by three daughters Sarah Shires of Lindside, Linda Moser of Radford, VA and Ruth Irwin of Stephenville, TX. Grandsons Timothy Shires and Emily Weeks, Robert (Bobby) and Katrina Shires all of Lindside, Steve and Jeanette Shires of Niceville, FL, Buster and Lisa Moser of Christiansburg, VA and Richard Reed of Huntington. Granddaughters Rebecca (Michael) Weiss of Lindside, Melissa (Jason) McCroskey of Salem, VA Romanza Moser of Pilot, VA Melissa (Brad) Black of Stephenville, TX. 22 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Step Great-Grandchildren, 10 Great-Great Grandchildren and 2 Step Great-Great Grandchildren, who all lovingly called her "GRANNY LOWE".
She is also survived by former son-in-laws Sam Shires, Carl McCoy, and granddaughter-in-law Joyce Shires.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday August 19, 2019 at Lindside United Methodist Church with Pastor Becky VanStavern and Rev. Carl Mouser officiating. Burial will follow at Peterstown Cemetery in Giles County, VA. Tim Shires, Bobby Shires, Steve Shires, Buster Moser, Mike Weiss and Sam Shires will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends at Wickline Funeral Home on Sunday August 18, 2019 from 6PM till 8PM.
