Obituary for Carl Layne Bowling
Carl L. Bowling, 93 of Pearisburg, VA passed away Monday May 20, 2019 at Heritage Hall in Rich Creek, VA. Born August 31, 1925 in Bluefield, WV he was a son of the late Charles W. and Minnie Belle Stephens Bowling.
Mr. Bowling was a veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II. Former owner of Rich Creek Provision. A member of the Riverview Baptist Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Marvin and Donald Bowling, sisters; Olma Lambert, Florence Snow, Edith Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years Nevil E. Hale Bowling of the home, one son Dr. Daniel L. Bowling and wife Mary Ann of Pearisburg VA, one daughter Teresa L. and husband Johnny Clemons of Lindside WV, three grandchildren Russell and wife Jessica Bowling, Evan and wife Yao Bowling and Amanda and husband Curtis Richardson. 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday May 22, 2019 at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead, VA with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. will military graveside rites. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM (Noon) till time of service at the church.
